The New England Patriots gave Drake Maye some help this offseason in the form of Romeo Doubs, but does that mean they're done adding more help? Are they officially out on a potential A.J. Brown trade?

Not necessarily, at least according to Peter Schrager.

While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Schrager dropped the quote of all quotes when it comes to the Patriots' plans in free agency. Schrager appeared on the show, and shortly after the news of Doubs joining the Patriots was announced, he said what Pats fans were hoping for.

“I don't think they are done. I still expect them to be in the AJ Brown market," Schrager said.

NFL reporter Cameron Wolfe then doubled-down on that assertion.

Peter Schrager isn't ruling the Patriots out of A.J. Brown sweepstakes

If this is true, then wow, the Patriots are ensuring that Maye has weapons in 2026 and beyond, something that has not been the case during the first two years of his career. Despite not having weapons in 2025, the Patriots still reached the Super Bow,l and Maye nearly won league MVP.

Just imagine what getting him Doubs and potentially Brown could do for him and this offense. Nightmare fuel.

Brown might have been a dramatic player during his time with the Eagles, but there's no doubt what kind of player he is. Even with the drama surrounding him and the team last year (and the Eagles' offensive woes), Brown still finished the year with over 1,000 yards receiving and seven touchdowns. Maye would gladly take that kind of weapon for his Year 3 offense.

The Patriots need to keep swinging big if they want to get back to the Super Bowl next year, and trading for Brown would be about as big a swing as they could take. He'd instantly be their WR1 and one of Maye's favorite targets, and if the point is to build the offense around Maye, why not swing for the fences?

Brown could help this team reach where it knows it can be, and they have the money and draft capital to make it happen. So, time to make it happen.

Hopefully, Schrager is right and the Patriots can work out a deal to bring Brown to the Patriots.
