The Patriots' 2026 offseason has been dominated by headlines involving a trade for wide receiver AJ Brown, and with the June 1 deadline nearing, the speculation about an impending blockbuster deal is expected to heat up.

Although it's far from official at this point, the more rumors that filter out seem to point to Brown making his way to New England in short order.

From how the Eagles went about free agency and then the draft to insiders revealing what they want in return for the superstar, fans are starting to believe it's only a matter of time before the should-have-been Patriots WR1 will be in Foxboro.

They might be getting ahead of themselves, but when there are consistent rumors connecting Brown to the team, with the latest being his interest in housing in the Boston area, it's difficult to shame anyone for getting their hopes up.

AJ Brown is rumored to be taking a special interest in Boston ahead of potential Patriots trade

In the latest rumor surrounding Brown's 2026 season, Jim Murray of 98.5 The Sports Hub claims a source let him know that the receiver "will be speaking with management at one of the big, fancy condo developments in the Seaport this week regarding residency."

We know that players have a lot of money and generally have more than one home across the country, so on the surface, maybe this isn't a story.

However, what would be the reason for Brown to look at homes in the Boston area if he wasn't being traded? He has no connection to the city, or the state, for that matter, so there's not a lot of reason for his sudden interest in Boston if he didn't know he was going to be traded there soon.

That's the only reasonable conclusion to come to, even if it might feel premature. Granted, it should also be taken with a grain of salt, since Murray is no NFL insider. But it is a very specific detail that would presumably be difficult to make up, yet it's also an easy rumor to manufacture and get people to believe quickly.

Ultimately, we'll have to wait and see what happens, and there's a good chance that because the rumor is now being discussed, Brown will cancel his conversation/trip, or try to be more discreet next time, so we might not hear anything further until a trade is, or isn't, announced.

Until then, unfortunately, we'll have to keep hearing more rumors and remain patient until June 2.
