Now that the 2025 NFL offseason has officially begun, the Patriots can focus on what they are going to do over the next few months, with the emphasis on (of course) free agency and the upcoming draft. They have plenty of cap space to use and coveted selections in the first few rounds of the draft, making it potentially one of the best offseasons to walk into of the last several years, even more so for a new head coach.

With so many positions to address, there are endless possibilities for what Mike Vrabel and Co. might decide to do with their assets, including trades. That has prompted a lot of conversation about what they might try to get done before the draft, which inevitably creates even more opportunity once they're on the clock at No. 4.

The hope is that a few players will still be on the board when it's their turn to make a selection, particularly Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter, Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter, and LSU left tackle Will Campbell.

Because a couple of teams are ahead of them on the draft board in need of a quarterback, there has been a belief that at least one or two of the players deemed the best fit for New England will still be available. While that could be the case, the Patriots may have just won the lottery with the latest rumor surrounding the Titans and their first overall pick that could drastically change their draft plans.

The Titans potentially trading away the first overall pick is a big win for the Patriots

Although they could certainly benefit from an upgrade at the quarterback position, making the first overall pick the best place to be this year, the Titans are said to be open to all possibilities of what to do with their coveted selection, including trading it away.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, they are willing to take calls from quarterback-needy teams who want to trade up, likely for one of the two quarterbacks deemed worthy of a first-round pick this year.

"While it's early in the process, Tennessee has an open mind with the first pick, sources say. All options are on the table, including possibly trading the pick, and the Titans are expected to receive calls from other teams."

There are a few solid options regarding who that team could be, including the Giants at No. 3, the Raiders at No. 6, the Jets at No. 7, or even the Saints at No. 9. All could be on the phone sooner rather than later to the Titans to snag one of the very few quarterbacks of this year's class who experts believe could be the player to turn their offense around.

That means the Patriots would almost certainly have just one of their suspected top three players off the board by pick No. 4, which is a huge win for a team needing massive roster upgrades.
