It has been nearly two months since the New England Patriots sent quarterback Joe Milton III to the Dallas Cowboys in a trade, and it appears it hasn't taken long for the former Tennessee star to move on.
Once beloved in New England for his ridiculous arm strength and just, plain, fun skill set, Milton is now a Cowboy and, during OTAs, commented on his time with Dallas thus far. Spoiler alert: he's a happy man.
Milton said it was a "blessing" to be in Dallas and gave a few reasons behind that sentiment.
Joe Milton gave four specific reasons why he felt blessed to be with the Cowboys
Milton said he was happy to be in warmer weather, unlike New England. To be honest, that's fair.
But, he went on to also note that home games were played indoors.
OK, we get it. Warm weather and indoor home games do sound nice.
But, his third reason felt a little personal. He noted the Cowboys were "America's Team."
We don't have to spend too long on this topic, but has America's Team won a Super Bowl this century? And, how many Super Bowls have the Patriots won?
Great, glad we got that out of the way.
Finally, Milton said it was great to be learning from someone like Dak Prescott. And, there it is: a real, football answer. Prescott is considered by many to be a top-10 or top-12 quarterback in this league and has had some strong seasons.
He's a noted leader and loved in his locker room. Having been around far longer than the likes of Drake Maye, of course, Milton is not wrong to feel privileged to learn from Dak. That's a sensible response to which we cannot argue.
As fun as it might be to come up with snarky responses to a former player essentially telling us the grass is greener elsewhere, it's hard to blame him. For his sake, we can only wish him the best.
