The New England Patriots' 2026 offseason is looking worse by the day. It increasingly resembles the calamitous 2024 version engineered by Vice President of Personnel Eliot Wolf. With Mike Vrabel seemingly distracted by off-field issues, it's increasingly looking like another train-wreck season.
At this point, trades are the only serious possible solution, and the team needs offensive linemen above all else, except maybe edge players.
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox has listed 10 possible trade candidates ahead of Week 4. They'll likely still be available after that game. One is a younger veteran offensive tackle: 27-year-old former Jaguars starter Walker Little.
He's a massive former left tackle at 6'7" and 325 pounds, and he'd be a good addition if the price is right.
The 2026 Patriots have needs across the board, especially on the offensive line. One position that's an absolute train wreck already due to injuries is guard. A major injury to right guard Mike Onwenu, and a subsequent injury to his backup, waiver-wire signee Greg Van Roten, have put the team behind the eight ball. Little isn't a guard, but beggars can't be choosers.
The Patriots' season after Buffalo may be hanging by a thread. The offensive line needs help, and Little may not cost all that much.
The New England Patriots did little this offseason to provide depth
Returning four starters to an offensive line that could neither pass nor run block very well invited similar results, and the Patriots have received them. They still can't protect Drake Maye, and running lanes basically don't exist for backs Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson.
Now, the only way to patch the holes on the offensive line is through trades. That's where Little comes in.
Knox ranks Little eighth on his trade list, a target he suggests could cost only a conditional sixth-round pick and maybe a throwaway defender.
"The Jacksonville Jaguars are ... in possession of a potentially valuable trade chip in the form of offensive tackle Walker Little. Little has primarily played left tackle in the NFL, but he has cross-trained at other spots. The 27-year-old has never been a high-end starter, but he has appeared in 73 games with 39 starts. He can help a team seeking offensive-line depth or a capable spot starter at left tackle...
Little has played just 40 total snaps on offense and special teams. Jacksonville would likely consider flipping Little for draft capital and/or some defensive help ahead of the trade deadline. Doing so would save the Jags $11.4 million in cap space."
Little's addition won't be a panacea for the Patriots' multiple depth issues, even on the offensive line. They could use a guard more, but first-round pick Caleb Lomu may be slotted in at right guard, which seems like a solid option.
Meanwhile, acquiring Little would give the Patriots a younger veteran depth tackle option if 35-year-old right tackle Morgan Moses goes out with an injury or needs a break, or if left tackle Will Campbell has an injury setback. Make a deal for Little for a sixth-round pick.
