There has been a lot of excitement surrounding the New England Patriots' rookies this offseason, with nobody receiving more hype than running back TreVeyon Henderson. The surprise pick by Mike Vrabel and Eliot Wolf in the second round of this year's draft has already been impressing during training camp and certainly putting the league on notice.
He immediately makes the Patriots' backfield among the best in the league, as he joins Antonio Gibson and Rhamondre Stevenson on the offense.
And now Henderson just made it very clear that he is not a player to overlook, as he and Gibson were set to be the returners for the opening kickoff in the preseason opener against the Commanders and took it to the house for a 100-yard score to put the Patriots up 7-0 right away.

What a welcome to the NFL moment for the rookie!
It has been a long time since the Patriots had an immediate impact player in a rookie like Henderson, but it certainly appears as though the risk of taking a highly regarded running back, one of the best of the 2025 class, has already paid off and is only heightening the excitement about his potential this fall.
TreVeyon Henderson is going to make the biggest impact on the Patriots offense this season
The Patriots made it their mission to build an impeccable offense around Drake Maye this offseason, and that is why they prioritized the group during this year's draft. They kicked things off by addressing the offensive line by selecting left tackle Will Campbell, immediately giving the quarterback a stable protector on his blind side.
They then made a bold move by taking Henderson, who had no idea the Patriots were interested in him, and he's already emerging as the breakout star the team has desperately needed on offense.

He will easily have the biggest positive impact on the offense's success, not only as an explosive weapon out of the backfield but also with his impressive blocking skills and his ability to be a significant factor in the passing game.
Much of that has already been on display in tonight's game against the Commanders, and hopefully, we will continue to see more of it heading into the upcoming season.
