The New England Patriots failed to secure their seventh Super Bowl trophy, losing to the Seattle Seahawks in blowout fashion in Super Bowl LX. It was not a great game for second-year quarterback Drake Maye, who threw two bad picks and was sacked six times in the loss.

There's no other way to put this - This was a rough outing for Maye. Yes, he had a magical season that nearly culminated in him winning the MVP award but we did not see that on display in the big game. Maye had a few 'Wow' moments but, more often than not, he was frazzled and making mistakes.

Maye spoke to the media following the game and had plenty to say about his performance and his team's loss in Super Bowl LX.

Key takeaways from Drake Maye's post-Super Bowl press conference

Here are the notable takeaways from a clearly emotional Maye following the loss to the Seahawks:

On pending free agents

“Hopefully a lot of the same faces are here. I know the nature of the business it won’t be like that. The team was awesome.”

On Mike Vrabel

“He was the heartbeat. He’s the reason why we’re here. I look forward to my relationship with him for a long time. He’s a great person and a hell of a football coach.”

On emotions in the locker room

“We’ve got to stick together. That’s what it’s about. It’s gonna hurt and sting for a while, but that’s what you sign up for, so that’s what you get.”

On the overall performance

"It definitely hurts... I'd like to go back to the beginning and redo it."

There was plenty to take away from Maye's press conference. First and foremost, the guy was clearly an emotional mess and why wouldn't he be? He just played in the biggest football game of his life and not only lost but lost in blowout fashion. To work all season to make the Super Bowl only to have your season end like that has to be gut-wrenching.

Maye also praised Mike Vrabel and it's not hard to see why. Vrabel took a four-win team from a year ago all the way to the Super Bowl and that's really, really impressive. The Patriots clearly found a winning pair here with these two and that's half the battle right there.

At the end of the day, yes, this loss stings. It should sting. How the Patriots respond to this loss will say everything about what type of team this group will be moving forward. Hopefully, they come back stronger in 2026 and Maye doesn't join the lengthy list of quarterbacks who fail to get back and win a Super Bowl after losing their in their first appearance.
