Maxx Crosby has been at the center of the NFL offseason, as he went from being traded to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks, back to the Las Vegas Raiders after Baltimore pulled out of the deal.
The news flipped the NFL world on its head, and everyone is still gathering themselves. Some teams are even trying to figure out if this means they have another opportunity to trade for the star defender.
The New England Patriots are one of those teams, and a run at Crosby is definitely on the table for the franchise. Patriots’ Executive Vice President of Player Personnel Eliot Wolf made that clear on Thursday.
Speaking with the media, Wolf was asked about potentially revisiting trade talks on Crosby, and he seemed very open to the idea.
While he didn’t guarantee that it’s something New England will do, Wolf explained that he’s going to talk to Richard Miller, the team’s Director of Research, to get an update on the franchise’s numbers, and that the Pats will always look into any player that can help the team.
Patriots EVP Eliot Wolf on potentially revisiting trade talks on Maxx Crosby: "I'd have to talk to Richard Miller about our numbers right now. So, again, we'll look into any player that we think can help us."

Patriots are open to revisiting a trade for Maxx Crosby
That's more than a morsel of hope to fuel fans' excitement about the possibility of Crosby ending up in New England. The Patriots were in the Super Bowl this past season, and they already have an elite defense; adding a player of Maxx Crosby's caliber to that unit would give New England a chance to return to the Super Bowl immediately and get the job done.
While the Patriots seem open to exploring this potential trade, they may be in for some bad news, as Crosby and the Raiders have moved on from the idea.
On Wednesday, the star defender took to social media to express his commitment to Las Vegas, saying everything happens for a reason, and on Thursday, it was reported that the Raiders are now telling teams they aren’t moving the defender.
Of course, this is the NFL, and words are just words. Las Vegas was recently reminded of that by the trade with Baltimore. If the Patriots look at their numbers and believe they can afford to acquire Maxx Crosby, they should absolutely see if they can talk the Raiders into changing their minds again.
