The New England Patriots' turnaround is in full swing for many reasons, and although it's probably ludicrous to be thinking Super Bowl in Year 1 under Mike Vrabel, improvement is coming regardless. Finally, a sense of direction after a few years of looking lost.
This sense of direction also seems amplified after general manager Eliot Wolf spoke to the media on Monday regarding several topics. One thing stood out over any other tidbit, though, when Wolf said he was "absolutely" open to a big trade over the next couple of weeks.
Per NFL insider Josina Anderson, Wolf noted he would be open to a big trade for the right player and at the right price. This came when discussing Cincinnati Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson and the current situation happening between those two sides. But, it has to be noted that Wolf sounded like he was open to any big trade that would help the team.
Eliot Wolf's aggressive mindset is a taste of nostalgia for Patriots fans
This type of attitude and mindset is a breath of fresh air for Patriots fans. Over the past few years and since the departure of no. 12, the Patriots haven't exactly been aggressive when it comes to obtaining top-tier talent.
Instead, they have spent their money in ways that are sometimes confusing. But, Wolf now has the team set in the right direction.
Remember, once upon a time, the Patriots went out and acquired players like Randy Moss, Corey Dillon or even Rodney Harrison, among many others. These Pro Bowl talents would go on to help New England win many, many games alongside Tom Brady.
But, in the last few seasons, we have not seen the Patriots with much of an identity. Because of that, there's been no reason to go out and make blockbuster moves. Now, with someone like Hendrickson on the market and a franchise quarterback in place, Wolf is thinking a bit differently.
Hendrickson would be a huge get. So would Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons, who is in a bit of a contract fiasco of his own with Jerry Jones.
If you add either one of those guys to this roster, the Patriots' chances at a playoff run immediately shift, and we're here for it.
