Before the Patriots inevitably traded for wide receiver A.J. Brown earlier this month, there were concerns from analysts and fans about his fit within the offense, primarily due to his age and apparent knee issues he had dealt with in recent years during his tenure with the Eagles.

Since he joined the roster, he has seamlessly blended into the offense and already appears to have chemistry with Drake Maye, but there are still questions about whether he was the right player for the team to pursue and whether he will be the kind of difference-maker the quarterback needs compared to last season.

From all we've seen on the practice field and from reviewing his career to this point, there shouldn't be lingering concerns about what Brown will do in New England. He's a proven talent coming off another 1,000+ receiving-yard season and will almost surely record that again in 2026.

But there are still discussions among skeptics about what kind of production the Patriots are going to get from the skeptics, and fortunately, we have an Eagles expert to listen to who would know better than anyone what the team should expect from Brown now and in the future.

Eagles expert shuts down the ongoing questions about what kind of player the Patriots are getting from A.J. Brown

While discussing the trade with CLNS in recent weeks, sports editor for the Philly Inquirer Devin Jackson couldn't have shut down the ongoing questions about Brown any better than he did.

Not only did he emphasize that he is still a top wide receiver in the league, but he said that even if he isn't still the player he once was, he will still be a dominant player at the position, and that's exactly what the Patriots need.

Based on his stature alone, Brown will immediately be a bigger threat in the Patriots' receiving corps than they have had on the roster, besides Mack Hollins.

Physically, Brown is an explosive player with a quickness rarely seen in a receiver at his size, which is exactly why Jackson still believes he will be "imposing" on Patriots opponents this upcoming season.

He was moving well on the practice field from what we could see, and he's only had one season in his NFL career where he recorded less than 1,000 receiving yards, and that was only because he didn't play every game.

So there's no legitimate reason to believe Brown is slowing down any time soon or that we should be worried about what he can or cannot do within their offense.

He's working with one of the best up-and-coming quarterbacks and a legendary offensive coordinator, so there's more reason to believe we could see some of his best production in recent years, and that's something to be excited about.
