The MVP caliber season of New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has impressed many within the organization, including linebacker K'Lavon Chaisson.
In a clip shared by WEEI's Tom Carroll, Chaisson praised Maye's ability to play calm and slow the game down, while highlighting the trust he has in his offensive teammates.
He added it looks like the second-year signal caller is "always moving and grooving when he’s playing."
"Bro, he just so calm when he do it. It’s all just like slow motion now. We literally asked him today, 'Do you feel like in flow state when you out there?' ... He sees and recognizes certain things and certain ball placements, and just the trust that he has in his receivers, and running backs, and his O-line."
K'Lavon Chaisson is very impressed with Drake Maye’s play this season, but doesn’t know how to properly pronounce his nickname 😂

K'Lavon Chaisson doesn't think "anybody could have ever predicted" Drake Maye's rise
After showing some flashes of potential as a rookie, Maye has taken a massive leap forward during his sophomore campaign, playing well enough to become a growing favorite in this year's MVP race. So far this season, Maye has posted 4,203 passing yard and 30 touchdowns (adding 409 yards and four scores on the ground), while also leading the league in QBR (76.5), passer rating (112.9), and completion percentage (71.7%).
According to Chaisson, nobody could have seen this rapid rise coming for the North Carolina product.
"I don’t think that anything that he’s shown so far is anything that anybody could have ever predicted and been like, ‘Man this is Drake Maye.’ You know? Drake 'Drake Maye' Maye ... He got a cool vibe to him, man and it’s appreciated, for sure."
Though Maye's impressive performance this season has largely been the story of the year in New England, Chaisson has been putting together a solid breakout campaign of his own. The six-year NFL veteran has posted career highs in sacks (6.5, second-most on the team), tackles for loss (nine, second-most on the team), forced fumbles (two, leads the team), and defensive touchdowns (one fumble recovery score, tied for team lead).
Chaisson has made winning plays for New England throughout the year, scoring his first NFL touchdown in Week 7, sacking Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield on third-down to set up a Patriots scoring drive during a tight game in Week 10, and stripping the ball from Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers to seal a New England victory in Week 16.
Both Maye and Chaisson have defied the expectations of many this season with their play, something the Patriots hope will continue with the postseason near.
