Drake Maye has led the New England Patriots to a 7-2 record through nine games, their best start since 2019, when they started 8-1. Maye has been a force to be reckoned with, totaling 19 touchdowns to only four interceptions while leading the league in completion percentage.
He's done all this in less-than-ideal conditions. While the offensive line has certainly been better than it was last season, he remains one of the most sacked players in the league. The running game has been non-existent, as Rhamondre Stevenson has had four games under 2.5 per carry this season and 3.4 yards per touch on the year.
The receivers are a better group than last year's, but Diggs hasn't been all that consistent. Kayshon Boutte has been excellent as a deep threat, but Mack Hollins, who has 13 catches on the year, excluding his Week 7 outlier performance, is the WR3. What Maye is doing is incredible.
Drake Maye is one of the most consistent young players in NFL history
Maye's talent has been on display all year, but now it can be quantified through an impressive streak. Maye has had 200+ passing yards while maintaining a 100+ rating over the last 8 games.
For added context, he's had a completion rate of 75%+ in five of those games and has totaled 18 touchdowns to 3 interceptions.

As noted, this streak is tied for the longest in NFL history by any passer 23 or younger. It puts him in an elite category, and it shows exactly the type of player the Patriots have on their hands.
After totaling 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 13 games with a 66.6% completion rate last year, he's taken a major jump: on track to more than double his touchdowns, half his interceptions, and boost his completion rate by double digits.
The sky is the limit for Maye, and here's to hoping he can continue his success to lead the Patriots to playoff success in 2025 and beyond.
