Drake Maye had a 2-word response to reporter's Tom Brady comparison

Pretty blatant reaction, here!

The biggest week of the year is in full swing with the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks in the thick of Super Bowl week.

Leading up to the big game, players and coaches will, of course, have plenty of time spent with the media, doing interviews, answering questions, and providing us all with some unforgettable moments. One of those moments came on Super Bowl LX's Opening Night when several players met a flood of 5,000 media members.

During quarterback Drake Maye's time at the podium, one reporter was heard comparing him to another former Patriots quarterback — Tom Brady — to which Maye had a very simple response to try and shut it down immediately:

“Easy now!”

Specifically, one reporter called Maye "the second coming" of the greatest to ever do it. That isn't just high praise. It's absurd, and Maye knows it.

Drake Maye isn't Tom Brady, but the numbers are actually pretty absurd

Now, even though the comparisons between Brady and Maye sound ridiculous right now (and they probably always will), let's not shy away from Maye's trajectory. The simple fact is this: Maye and the Patriots reached the Super Bowl in what was supposed to be a "rebuilding" season.

Maye might not end up winning seven Super Bowls during his time in the league. But, no other quarterback comes close to what Brady accomplished in the NFL. There is a reason why he's known as the unquestioned G.O.A.T.

There isn't a debate. Brady is the greatest of all time, period.

But, with Maye's upward trajectory and still having so much of a ceiling to reach, down the line, there is absolutely reason to believe he will win multiple Super Bowls.

The coach is in place with Mike Vrabel. The franchise quarterback is in place with Maye. Those are the toughest parts, and New England has them locked down.

Just look at some of his unbelievable achievements in Year 2, for a second, and maybe then it won't sound as crazy.

Maye led the league in completion percentage with a whopping 72.0 percent. Brady didn't do that until Year 8.

Maye threw for 4,394 yards in 2025. Funny enough, Brady didn't do that until Year 8 as well.

The former North Carolina standout tossed 31 touchdowns in just his second year.

I am not making this up — you can go check the numbers yourself — but Brady did not surpass 30 touchdowns until ... you guessed it: Year 8.

Just in case we wanted to get even more specific and offer up Maye some added victory laps, he won 14 games in Year 2, while Brady didn't do that until Year 4.

All of this to say ... Maye isn't Brady. However, he is set up for so much long-term success. He is far ahead of schedule.

And Patriots fans can't help but smirk.
