The New England Patriots are back in the Super Bowl and all is right in the world. Something that might have concerned Pats fans entering the big game, however, was a possible injury to franchise quarterback Drake Maye's right shoulder.
Maye was listed as questionable on the Super Bowl bye week injury report with a shoulder injury, and it was hard not to panic or overreact when seeing that.
Fortunately, it appears that Patriots fans don't need to worry about the injury. While answering questions at Media Day, Maye was asked about his shoulder and gave the answer that Patriots fans were hoping for.
“I’ll be just fine," Maye said. “Turned a corner landing on the flight, felt good from the flight, and throwing out there today. I really had no doubt in being 100 percent for the game. It’s the Super Bowl, you get two weeks to prepare for it. Do whatever you have to do.”
Drake Maye says shoulder injury is nothing to be concerned about ahead of Super Bowl
This is obviously great news because this Patriots team would not be as scary in the Super Bowl without a fully-healthy Maye. No disrespect to Josh Dobbs, but Maye has played a huge role in why this team is where it is right now and that's why he's up for the title of league MVP. To hear that he'll be fine and the shoulder injury isn't anything to worry about is music to all of our ears.
Maye is going to be the second-youngest quarterback to ever start a Super Bowl, so this is a big moment for him. He can help the Patriots become the team with the most-ever Super Bowl titles if they win on Sunday.
Hopefully, Maye can play well in his first-ever Super Bowl appearance and the Patriots can get right back to doing what they did on-and-off for two decades — which is winning championships.
