Going into his second season, Drake Maye will experience a lot of pressure to perform at a high level after a surprisingly impressive rookie year in 2024. While his stats might not jump off the page, especially compared to the other rookie quarterbacks, Maye defied expectations by doing more with less, as he didn't exactly have a great group of offensive teammates to work with.
That won't be an issue this year with the free agents and rookies who have joined the team, which has led to sky-high projections for what the Patriots can accomplish.
Some analysts and fans are predicting a potential playoff run via wild card spot, with even bolder takes suggesting they could legitimately compete for the AFC East title. Regardless of what inevitably happens, the team, led by Maye, is already setting the tone with their mindset for the 2025 season by sharing that they are "tired of losing" which is exactly what Patriots fans want to hear.

It's that awareness that could dictate just how good the team will be this fall. And to be fair, Patriots fans are tired of it, too.
Drake Maye understands how important it is to get the Patriots back on track
While it would be fair for any other fanbase to argue that the Patriots have not experienced the real downside of being a losing team because they are only six years removed from winning their last Super Bowl, it has been a long time since they were a competitive team that earned respect.
Some of that might have faded with the departures of Tom Brady in 2020 and Bill Belichick in 2023, but the accumulation of losses and the less-than-impressive performance by the team from top to bottom certainly didn't help matters.
It's a big reason for Mike Vrabel's hiring and Drake Maye being the third overall pick in the 2024 draft, as they are both considered the pillars of the next generation of success in New England. And based on what we've seen so far, even though Vrabel hasn't coached a game yet, it appears that a dream team has already been assembled in Foxboro.
They will have a lot to live up to, but it's not just analysts and fans setting the standard high. The team is taking their goal seriously for the 2025 season and understands just how important it is to get back on track.
Vrabel continues to stress that building a solid foundation will be key to what they can accomplish, and hearing that they're tired of losing reinforces their determination to ensure we won't deal with a wishy-washy team this fall, as compared to last year.
This is a much different team, and that is something to be excited about.
