After an impressive rookie season that started in Week 6, the Patriots 2025 offseason was expected to revolve heavily around quarterback Drake Maye and ensuring he would be put in the best position possible to succeed moving forward. That wasn't exactly the case during his rookie year, but with a new head coach and staff, that is expected to drastically change for the better.
There were some concerns, however, about the complete overhaul of the coaches he worked with during the 2024 season, building a solid trust with those he worked closest with who seemed to help him progress in the way he needed to. That is likely what led to Mac Jones' downfall before him, even with Bill Belichick on the sidelines.
Fortunately for Maye, he appears to be in better hands now than he was this past season, despite the incredible turnover of the coaching staff. But we hadn't heard his side of things since Jerod Mayo was fired and Mike Vrabel was hired until now.
Drake Maye is fully on board with the big coaching changes the Patriots made this offseason
After some tried to make his absence at Vrabel's introductory press conference into some sort of controversy, Maye had kept a low profile and not commented on the significant changes the Patriots have made so far this offseason.
However, that changed on Friday during the Pro Bowl games when he spoke to SiriusXM NFL Radio and shared his positive and excited feelings about working with Josh McDaniels, who is replacing the controversial play caller Alex Van Pelt, and how he feels about Vrabel being the new head coach.

It's good to hear optimism from the Patriots franchise quarterback and excitement about the future in Foxboro. Not that he didn't express that throughout his rookie season, but after his up-and-down year, he could have easily felt defeated. Fortunately, that's not what he's exhibiting whatsoever.
Instead, he is very well aware of just how talented an offensive play caller McDaniels is and recognizes the strong history Vrabel has with the Patriots and as a head coach. Maye is clearly eager to learn and be all that Patriots fans believe he can be, which he displayed on the field throughout last season.
