On Sunday, the New England Patriots will play the Seattle Seahawks to crown a Super Bowl champion for the 2025 season. That reality has provided the Patriots fan base with a ton of excitement, as New England has quickly returned to the top of the league.
While playing in the Super Bowl is enough to be excited about, Patriots fans were recently given something else to get their hopes up about.
On Wednesday, NFL insider Dianna Russini joined Zolak & Bertrand on 98.5 The Sports Hub and talked about New England possibly pursuing veterans who ask for a trade this offseason. The player Russini said by name was Las Vegas Raiders edge Maxx Crosby, adding that he has told her he would love to play for Mike Vrabel.

Maxx Crosby would reportedly love to play for Mike Vrabel
Naturally, this news sent a wave of excitement through the Patriots fan base. Possibly winning the Super Bowl, then acquiring one of the league’s best players is the unrealistic stuff fans fantasize about. However, it seems like it could be on the table for New England, and that would be a dream come true.
As Russini pointed out, Crosby doesn’t really seem happy with the state of the Raiders right now. He was frustrated with the team for shutting him down with games left in the season, and while he did ultimately have a surgery to address an injury, he wanted to finish the year. That public fracture left everyone asking if he could force his way out of Vegas this offseason.
Crosby hasn’t hinted at anything like that, but he may not even have to force his way out. When Raiders general manager John Spytek was asked in his end-of-season presser if their franchise player is untradeable, he gave a lengthy answer about his love for Crosby and how you never want to say goodbye to good players, but he didn’t say no.
So if the five-time Pro Bowler wants to play for Vrabel, the Patriots should get on the phone with Las Vegas this offseason to see what it will take to move the defender.
New England must first take care of business on Sunday, but adding a player like Maxx Crosby would help the team keep going to Super Bowls.
