Within the discussion surrounding the future of Will Campbell has been the possibility that the Patriots decide to move 2025 starting left guard Jared Wilson to his given position at center, replacing Garrett Bradbury this fall. Because he was drafted as a center, it would make sense to move off a more expensive option to have Wilson take over.
But some top left guards are suddenly becoming available, making that move seem a bit easier to digest for fans, particularly now that the Cowboys plan to release Brock Hoffman at the start of free agency.
The three-year starter has been a solid part of Dallas's offensive line since the 2022 season, but now he's on the move and giving the Patriots something to consider in their efforts to bolster the roster.

Hoffman started 14 games over the last two years, proving to be a valuable depth piece at C, LG and RG. Just 26 years old, he should have some real interest. pic.twitter.com/mvZwTqfnUq
Not only would he be a suitable starter, but he has proven his versatility is invaluable for a team like the Patriots, who have struggled to find adequate depth on their offensive line in recent years. That makes Hoffman a no-brainer signing.
Brock Hoffman's recent availability puts him at the top of the list for the Patriots in free agency
Because the offensive line is still a work in progress, the Patriots need to find some help in free agency, while also prioritizing the group in the draft again.
If they have the chance to sign a player like Hoffman, who has been as consistent as they come by not missing a single game for the Cowboys over the last three years, then they have to jump on the chance, even more so since they are contemplating what to do with Campbell and Wilson ahead of next season.
Hoffman gives them a lot of freedom in that regard, due to his versatility at both guard positions and at center, and that's not something many other linemen, if any, will give them.
It also helps lessen the burden in the upcoming draft, since tackle and guard have long been considered among their top needs, but Hoffman being just 26 years old means they could have someone under contract for a long time who's not much older than those they would eventually draft.
At the very least, they should inquire about what it would take to bring him to Foxboro, especially since they just traded 2025's starting center, Garrett Bradbury, to the Bears. The kind of versatility Hoffman possesses is too hard to come by to pass up and provides the left side of the offensive line with the kind of stability they were lacking last year.
