The Patriots returned to training camp on Monday morning after taking Sunday off, and the pads are out for the first time this summer. It's a good chance for the team and the fans to see what the new roster might be capable of when the season officially begins in September, which is particularly exciting for the new look offense.
There is a lot of hope surrounding what Drake Maye can accomplish with a much-improved offense around him, with players like Stefon Diggs now in the lineup. And it certainly doesn't hurt that he has a good cornerback to work against in Christian Gonzalez, but that provided a bit of a scare after initial 1-on-1s.
Gonzalez was covering Diggs in one of the first reps of 11-on-11 drills and reportedly hurt his leg during the play, leading to him limping off the field with the training staff.

Appeared to be something related to his leg.
He was seen throwing down his helmet, which has analysts and fans concerned about the severity of the injury, as he is expected to remain the CB1 for the upcoming season.
Christian Gonzalez suffering a possible injury at training camp is a nightmare
Besides the obvious terrible timing of suffering an injury, Gonzalez's absence is not great for the Patriots' secondary, with Carlton Davis also absent from training camp.
There have been concerns about his readiness for the season and whether he will be able to suit up in every game due to his injury history throughout his career. It's not ideal for both starters to be out for pivotal practices ahead of training camp, making Gonzalez's potential injury even more worrisome.

It's a situation we'll have to continue to monitor, and now provides an opportunity for the rest of the cornerback room to step up and see what they can do.
There are plenty of questions regarding the depth chart at cornerback, so this could provide a better look at who might play under Davis and Gonzalez.
