Through two weeks of free agency, the Patriots have addressed nearly every roster weakness from the 2025 season, signing players at all positions most considered their neediest.
There is still plenty of room for improvement, particularly in their pass-rushing unit, and seasoned veteran Cam Jordan has been suggested as a potential fix.
The 15-year vet remains unsigned and is likely looking to join a contender. The Patriots certainly fit that, since they're coming off a Super Bowl appearance this past season, so it's difficult to imagine that Jordan wouldn't be interested.
Although New England hasn't openly expressed interest in Jordan, nor have rumors really connected them, he could be on their radar. But the Chiefs are now the team to watch, according to ESPN's Nate Taylor, and they could very easily be the team to steal Jordan if the Patriots become interested in signing him.
Chiefs' interest in Cam Jordan would be a massive hit to the Patriots' potential pass rushing upgrade
Over the past week, the Chiefs have been linked to Jordan by NFL insiders and now a current player, as Chris Jones tweeted out the pass rusher's name without any context.
According to Taylor, Jones admitted that it was his way of sparking interest in signing with Kansas City, and given that they missed the playoffs last season and the defense was a problem, Jordan could certainly turn that around.
The problem, of course, is that means the Patriots lose an option to upgrade their defense, too.
"Moving forward in free agency, the Chiefs are a possible destination for pass rusher Cameron Jordan, according to a league source. The 15-year veteran spent last season with the New Orleans Saints, recording 10.5 sacks, 15 quarterback hits, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Jones revealed that he was pitching the idea of Jordan, who's a free agent, joining the Chiefs by posting his name on his X account last week. If Jordan did join the Chiefs, he would give them a clear upgrade on the edge while playing on the opposite side of defensive end George Karlaftis."
Knowing the kind of production they could still get out of him and the lower price tag he likely comes with due to his age, it seems like a no-brainer move for the Chiefs to pursue Jordan if the interest is mutual.
The Patriots would have to look elsewhere for an upgrade if that becomes reality, and there are a few players worth considering, such as Joey Bosa and Kyle Van Noy. But we haven't heard much from any insiders about the Patriots looking into any veterans, so they may be planning to wait until the draft.
That doesn't seem like a bad plan, given how deep the incoming class is said to be. But at the same time, it would be smart to add another veteran into the mix to help carry the load, and Jordan certainly fits that need.
