The New England Patriots addressed most of their issues this offseason, but that doesn't mean they're a flawless team. Even the best things can be improved, and Mike Vrabel's team still has some doubts in the pass-rushing department.
Gabe Jacas missed crucial classroom time and might be playing catch-up. K'Lavon Chaisson's departure was a concern, and Harold Landry III's injury status leaves the team somewhat shorthanded there.
That's why they should keep an eye out for potential alternatives. According to Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox, the Kansas City Chiefs might have one in Felix Anudike-Uzomah, a failed first-round pick with true reclamation project potential.

Knox cited Anudike-Uzomah's early struggles and the Chiefs' financial situation as the primary reasons why they'd want to move on from their 2023 first-round selection:
"Moving Anudike-Uzomah would create opportunities for other edge players while helping Kansas City's unfavorable cap situation. The Chiefs have just $4.6 million in cap space, and moving Anudike-Uzomah would save $2.4 million in cap room," Knox wrote.
Of course, he'd likely not be an immediate upgrade for Vrabel's defense, but he's certainly worth the shot. The Chiefs didn't pick up his fifth-year option after he missed the 2025 season with a severe hamstring injury, but it's not like his struggles are all on him.
The Chiefs brought him in slowly, and their pass-rushing unit has left plenty to be desired as a whole in recent years, even with George Karlaftis and Chris Jones. That's why they took Ashton Gillotte and R Mason Thomas in the past couple of years.
Anudike-Uzomah played sparingly early on, making just three starts in 34 career games. So far, he's logged 41 total tackles (24 solo), 14 quarterback hits, and 3.0 sacks. Per Pro Football Focus (subscription required), he's gotten 26 total pressures, though he's also missed 15.2% of his tackles.
Anudike-Uzomah was the Big 12's Defensive Player of the Year at one point. Clearly, he hasn't even come close to living up to the hype, but he's just 23 and is on a team-friendly deal. He may not even make the Chiefs' 53-man roster at this point, so they'd rather get something in return for his services while he still can.
As things stand now, the Patriots will likely roll with recently signed Dre'Mont Jones, Christian Barmore, and Milton Williams as the primary headhunters while Landry works his way back to the field.
That's not necessarily bad, but adding a former first-round pick with untapped potential to the mix could certainly make things interesting, especially with Jacas also ramping things up after missing spring workouts.
If the price makes sense, he's the definition of a low-risk/high-reward pickup.
