When it was revealed that Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams had requested a trade last week, he would dominate all NFL conversation and continue to head into Week 6. The Patriots were part of the debate, as they could certainly use Adams's talent on their offense right now. But a seemingly lack of interest from the new regime has deferred the discussion elsewhere, at least for the time being.

Patriots fans don't seem interested in adding the 31-year-old to the roster, mainly due to the reported asking price the Raiders are seeking.

It has been reported that Las Vegas is hoping for a second-round pick and more in exchange for Adams. On the surface, it doesn't seem all that egregious given how talented he still is and how impactful he would immediately be on whatever team he lands with next.

However, most universally agree that it's unlikely any team will offer such a high draft pick for a player dealing with an injury and turning 32 later this season, on top of taking on his massive contract. It has been reported that teams who have inquired have come nowhere near offering that kind of return, furthering the belief the Raiders will have to adjust their demands.

This sentiment was echoed by former Patriots head coach turned NFL analyst Bill Belichick, who shared earlier this week when discussing the ongoing situation with Adams. Unfortunately, while his take is certainly valid, and most agree with him, it took all but two seconds for fans to roast him for believing it is too expensive, given his questionable trade history in New England.

Bill Belichick inadvertently opens the door for fans to troll him over Davante Adams take

During one of the most recent episodes of Belichick's football show with Underdog Fantasy, he spoke about the unlikeliness that a team would be willing to give up a second-rounder in a trade for Adams, prompting many to troll him for one of the worst trades of his Patriots tenure.

A litany of fans responded with the same rebuttal, bringing up his questionable decision to second a round pick to the Falcons in exchange for wide receiver Mohamed Sanu in 2019. It didn't take long to catch on like wildfire, with many replies taking off on social media.

It was a fair argument by those who continue to scratch their heads over Belichick's overvaluing of Sanu, especially at the time. Sanu went on to have a forgettable tenure in New England, recording 26 receptions for 207 yards and a touchdown, and was eventually released the following year.

However, even with his take going somewhat viral, many also believe he isn't wrong in his assessment of Adams and feel the Raiders won't receive that high of compensation for the six-time Pro Bowler.

This likely won't be the last time that Belichick is roasted by fans online, as a member of the media, or even if he continues to coach for the 2025 season. And while some of his takes are debatable, or in some cases, laughable to some, he still has an incredible knowledge of the game of football and has far more interesting things to say than questionable.
