With a new head coach coming in for the Patriots 2025 season, there was speculation surrounding whether he would retain any or all of the current front office staff. Eliot Wolf had just been promoted to the executive vice president of player personnel for the 2024 season, acting as the team's general manager and one of the more likely candidates to be replaced with an incoming regime.
Given how much new head coaches generally like to bring in their own guys for their staff, it was expected that would be the case with Mike Vrabel. However, during his introductory press conference, he seemed to make it clear that he wouldn't be moving on from Wolf, at least not yet.
Throughout his presser and while answering questions from the media, Vrabel name-dropped Wolf several times, seeming to imply that he would remain in the front office in some capacity. What that role will be is unclear, but it appears Wolf will still be around for the foreseeable future.
Mike Vrabel might want some continuity in the Patriots front office by retaining Eliot Wolf and Co.
Although he's entitled to bring in his own personnel, there might be a reason behind Vrabel's apparent choice to keep the Patriots front office mostly as it is. There will inevitably be a lot of changes made to the coaching staff, which directly impacts the players who are still on the team. Hence, maintaining some sort of consistency in other areas is essential.
It's also crucial at this stage of the offseason, as the front office has been scouting all season long and already looking ahead to the upcoming draft, especially since they hold the fourth overall pick.
Dismissing them and bringing in others could be a risk Vrabel isn't willing to take, which is a wise decision, given how much work the Patriots roster needs. They'll have more firsthand knowledge of who they think would be best for the team, as they're more familiar with their weaknesses and strengths, so it's smart for Vrabel to keep them around.
Whether they'll keep their current titles is more of a mystery, and we won't know that until the offseason gets underway.
