After watching George Pickens put together the best season of his career in his first year with the Cowboys, Patriots fans became intrigued with the idea of making him Drake Maye's next go-to target for the 2026 season.

At just 24 years old, he fits exactly what Mike Vrabel is trying to build with the roster, as he will have time to develop and grow with his quarterback and become a mainstay of the offense for years to come. The fact that he's explosive and makes out-of-this-world catches makes it even easier to see why fans want to see him in a Patriots uniform.

But there's a good chance Dallas won't let him hit the free-agent market, with many analysts believing they'll franchise-tag him instead. That doesn't mean they won't trade him, however, prompting plenty of mock trades popping up, including and not including the Patriots.

One of the latest proposals is bad news for their chances, too, as the Chiefs pull off the best possible offer, the Cowboys would be foolish to reject.

Outrageous trade offer from the Chiefs would immediately eliminate Patriots from contention for George Pickens

If Andy Reid and Co. made this offer, the Patriots have zero possibility of matching it or offering something better, so Pickens would be off the table before even making the call.

This is a move that, on paper, looks more like a fantasy trade than a realistic one, but at the same time, nothing and nobody is considered off-limits in the NFL, so it's not impossible to see happening.

The Chiefs have wanted a clear-cut WR1 since they surprisingly traded Tyreek Hill a few years ago, and this trade would certainly accomplish that and improve their chance of making it back to the Super Bowl in 2026.

Whether they'd actually make this offer is another story, though.

If they did, the Patriots would have to look elsewhere for their wide receiver fix, and there are a few other options to consider that might be just as good. The most prominent name continues to be Alec Pierce, but others like Mike Evans
