It's the start of another NFL offseason, and Patriots fans can't help but hyperfocus on the possibility of making wide receiver AJ Brown the team's newest WR1. He has been on the radar for a few years now, especially the last two with his up-and-down tenure with the Eagles, and it has only heightened since Mike Vrabel became the team's head coach.

Because he never wanted to trade Brown when he was the Titans' head coach, there remains a connection between the two, and with Brown's apparent frustration with Philadelphia, the trade rumors have only grown louder.

Both Brown and Vrabel have participated in making it look even more possible, as the head coach has spoken highly of the receiver, and Brown, who has shut down talks of him wanting off the Eagles, just added more fuel to the fire with his appearance on Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski's podcast "Dudes on Dudes."

AJ Brown just made sure he will remain connected to the Patriots this offseason

He was inevitably asked about Vrabel and the kind of coach that he is, but Edelman had to bait him first by referencing one of the team's most infamous catchphrases, "We are all Patriots."

That's when Brown then winked at the camera and set Patriots fans off about the chance of him being traded again.

This doesn't exactly end the lingering chatter about him wanting to play for Vrabel again, and even if it was just a cheeky moment, it will certainly get New England talking.

While there is a chance that Brown could be moved this offseason, there is a lot of money involved that both teams would have to take on, and because of that, it would make more sense for the Eagles to wait until after June 1st. That's when they'd take on significantly less dead cap.

Because of that, the Patriots would have to be okay with moving draft picks in the 2027 draft instead of this year, and potentially a player or two.

If the Eagles don't entertain a trade in 2026, however, there's an even better chance that they'll move on from Brown next offseason, and the Patriots will (of course) be at the top of the list of teams interested then, too.

There is a lot to consider in making a blockbuster move like this, and next year, Brown's age would also become a factor. But at least for now it's fun and he's not shutting down the possibility.
