All offseason long, Patriots fans have been waiting for June 1 to finally hit the calendar, as that was the earliest that a trade for wide receiver AJ Brown could finally be made official. Now that it's here, there are still worries that a team could sneak in and prevent the inevitable trade, especially since there have been rumors about teams inquiring about a deal.

The latest team thrown into the mix was the Jaguars, who have been rumored to be willing to move on from Brian Thomas Jr. and could be part of a deal for Brown. Before that was the Rams, who reportedly neared a deal earlier this offseason.

That trade fell through, leaving just the Jaguars as the Patriots' main competition. But according to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Patriots have nothing to worry about going into the final hours before a trade can be announced.

Adam Schefter confirms that the Patriots are the only team on the table for AJ Brown

Although things could change at any moment, Schefter doesn't anticipate a team swooping in to prevent Brown from being traded to New England.

"In my mind, there were two suitors in March. One was the Rams, and one was the Patriots. The Rams looked into it and allocated their resources elsewhere; the Patriots never did that. So, is there another team out there with a need at wide receiver that would be willing to part with a future (first-round pick)? I don't see it.

It didn't materialize in March, April, or May. Could it happen? Sure, there was a blue moon last night, but I don't expect it."

That's the best possible news that could be said right now, with just a few hours away before the trade can be announced.

It's one less thing to worry about, and now, Patriots fans can focus on the presumed trade being made official in short order, with Brown elevating the 2026 offense to new heights and giving Drake Maye the best pass catcher of his career so far.
