The New England Patriots have been linked to a potential trade for Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown for what's felt like an eternity now. Brown was reportedly disgruntled in Philadelphia last season so the trade rumors taking place all offseason have made perfect sense.
Furthermore, the Patriots have seemed like a good fit for Brown since he used to play for Mike Vrabel when the two were in Tennessee together. But, a deal has not gotten done yet and until it's done, Patriots fans will have to keep hearing about possible trades either to their team or another squad.
In a recent episode of the Sharp or Square podcast, Simon Hunter, who is a professional bettor, linked a team that isn't the Patriots to a trade for Brown.
"I know everyone swears A.J. is going to the Patriots. I've heard whispers about Green Bay being another team that's sneakily in the conversation for A.J. Brown. Obviously the Eagles already have a relationship. They just traded for Wicks from this Green Bay team. But when I heard that, it made sense after I saw what happened in the draft, right? They didn't really do anything offensively. They love their offense."
Packers could swoop in and steal A.J. Brown from Patriots
Hunter isn't an NFL insider but he does appear to have knowledge of what's going on in the league. In fact, Hunter hinted on his podcast a month before the draft that Ty Simpson could end up going to the Rams. As we saw, that played out before our very eyes a few weeks ago.
All of this to say that if Hunter has heard rumblings about something, it's probably best not to turn a blind eye to it. Patriots fans might think Brown coming to New England is a done deal but the Packers could potentially throw a wrench in their plans and it does make sense when you think about it.
As Hunter noted, the Packers and Eagles have done business together already and Green Bay could use wide receiver help. Brown would give them that help. Hopefully, the Patriots can get something figured out before another team, whether it's the Packers or someone else, swoops in and snatches him from their grasp.
