One of the Patriots’ latest draft picks received the opposite of a warm welcome after a video proclaiming his reaction to being drafted to New England went viral within minutes of the announcement.

Keion White, a defensive end out of Georgia Tech, was selected by the Patriots with their 46th overall pick in round two. Of course, cameras were set up at his home to catch his reaction to being drafted after he had attended night one in person in Kansas City.

His reaction was not what most would expect from a football player seemingly living out his dream in front of the entire country, creating a flurry of viral tweets concluding he was unhappy being drafted by New England.

Several large Twitter accounts started passing around the video, even Patriots beat reporters, continuing to perpetuate the wrong narrative about the young player.

The problem was the video lacked context.

The now-viral moment shown was before White knew he had been drafted. After the networks showed his college highlights and discussed his background, cameras caught his and his entire family’s reaction to the announcement made on television.

White is shown to be full of emotion, along with his family and friends crying and celebrating upon hearing the news.

But apparently, not all networks showed this moment, creating controversy for the newest Patriot before even stepping foot into Foxboro.

When speaking to the media not long later, White seemingly addressed the viral video, explaining his demeanor and how he felt at that moment.

"“My phone’s going crazy so I haven’t even checked the notifications. Like, I don’t know if y’all seen on TV, but I’m a pretty chill person. So, I’m not very explosive in excitement in any form. So, I’ve just kinda been taking it in.”"

It was an interesting and unfortunate way to be welcomed by the New England area, but he appears to be a great pick by the Patriots who can be quite a force for the defense this upcoming season.
