Three reasons the Patriots should trade QB Mac Jones

Trading Jones gives Patriots bigger opportunity to pursue Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson is still out there and could still agree to an offer sheet with a team.  If the Patriots were to trade Mac Jones, they could easily make a run at the 2019 MVP.  Reports indicate that there is interest in Jackson wanting to join the Pats, and that enough should prompt the team to go try to get him.

And in a bigger sense, trading Jones gives the Pats an opportunity to pursue another QB, perhaps in the NFL Draft.  They do have the 14th overall pick and could make a big trade up if they wanted to.  Keeping Mac Jones on the roster and still trying to pursue an upgrade would create quite the mess inside the organization, I think, as it seems like Jones still has some believers inside those facilities.

It is pretty clear how unfair of a situation that Jones and the offense was put in last year, but I think there are other factors to hint at Jones not being the long-term answer for the Patriots.
