Would Robert Kraft fire Bill Belichick as head coach and General Manager as the New England Patriots? It seems crazy but I think it is a higher possibility than most would believe.

I know it seems unimaginable but at a certain point in time everything must come to an end and the end might be coming sooner than we as Pats fans would like to admit.

Looking back in history we have seen the unimaginable coaching firings become real. For example Tom Landry was fired as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys after 29 seasons and 2 superbowls. Joe Torre was forced out as head coach of the New York Yankees after 12 years, making the playoffs in every single year he was the coach and 4 World Series championships.

What led to these coaches being fired or forced out? They were not meeting the standards that they had set for themselves and their respective franchises. Joe Torre had won 4 World Series rings but his last one was in 2000, so in 2007 he was forced out by the Yankees. Tom Landry 2 Super Bowls, but his last was the 1977 Super Bowl so there was a decade of no Super Bowl wins that led to his firing in 1988.

It has been 5 years since the last Patriots Super Bowl Victory in 2019. Since that last Super Bowl the patriots had a disappointing loss to the Titans in the playoffs at home, missed the Playoffs during the Covid season, got blown out by 30 points in the playoffs to divisional rival Bills, then missed the Playoffs again this previous season. The Patriots have been playing below their expectations the past few seasons and the future looks bleak with a lack of offensive talent on the roster.

The disappointing past seasons and the very strong possibility that the next few season lead to more disappointment could put Belichick on the hot seat. If you combine that with the fact that the Belichick and Kraft relationship has seemed to sour since Bill allowed Tom Brady to walk in free agency, and that Kraft is now 81 years old and he probably desperately wants to win one more Super Bowl and he might not have the patience to deal with how Belichick wants to build the Patriots roster.

I don’t know if firing Belichick would be a smart move but I can’t lie and say that it is not a possibility especially as the disappointing seasons might continue to rack up one after another.
