Not even a full week after the start of free agency in the NFL, the media, and even some fans, are already writing the Patriots off from making any big moves in the days ahead.

So far, the players New England has signed have been noteworthy additions, particularly to the offense. After losing Jakobi Meyers to the Raiders, Bill Belichick signed his replacement JuJu Smith-Schuster to a three-year deal. He also signed former Dolphins’ tight end Mike Gesicki after trading Jonnu Smith to the Falcons.

The offensive line was certainly a priority, as Belichick addressed the struggling unit from last season with a few signings last week and made sure to re-sign every defensive player set to hit free agency.

Although none of the players signed have been considered a “big move,” they have been very on-brand for a Belichick-led Patriots team.

There is some hope, however, that a blockbuster move will get done, as the Patriots have been connected to several receivers over the past few weeks that would be significant additions to the offense.

But according to NFL insider Dan Graziano, New England will probably not fulfill that desire.

"“I think that they’ve made their strategic moves in free agency. Also they’ve made some moves on the offensive line in free agency that they think will help.In terms of a big, splash move, no, I don’t get the sense that one is coming from the Patriots. Now, you never do know with Belichick. He could be planning something, but it sounds like they’re going to enter a little bit of a quiet phase, and look for the kind of bargains that he’s built the franchise on in the past.”"

Of course, this is just speculation, even if it comes from an NFL insider.

Seeing how the rest of the AFC east has maneuvered during free agency, with the latest news of Damien Harris signing with the Buffalo Bills, hopefully, Belichick will do the unthinkable and bring in an explosive offensive weapon.
