On Tuesday morning, recently retired Devin McCourty posted quite the picture to his Twitter account expressing his love for the New England Patriots.

The retirement of Devin McCourty this offseason was definitely hard to swallow as he’s a New England legend and still one of the best defensive backs in the entire NFL.

Now that he’s retired, we can look forward to what’s to come from McCourty.  His brother, Jason, is a host on Good Morning Football, so I assume we’d see some of Devin on that show.

On Tuesday morning, McCourty did something quite special.

McCourty’s legendary career is perfectly summed up on this massive billboard that I assume he had purchased, or however billboard advertisements work.

He was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft and has been a full-time starter in the NFL since then.  He began his career as a cornerback but became a full-time safety by the 2013 season.

Over his 13 year career, he missed just five games and played in 229 total between the regular and postseason.

He made the Pro Bowl in the 2010 and 2016 seasons.  He also added 35 interceptions, 110 passes defended, 11 forced fumbles, 3.0 sacks, 971 total tackles and three Super Bowl championships.

He also played and started in every game for the team since the 2016 season.

Devin McCourty was a definition of durable.  He was and is the definition of a Patriot, and it’s sad that he decided to hang the cleats up, but man what a career it was.

On the football side, the Patriots will have to try to replace McCourty on the field.  They could have been in the market for Jessie Bates III, but he signed with the Atlanta Falcons.

The team already needed a boost in the secondary, but now that issue becomes even more pronounced.

Either way, this is a really cool farewell from McCourty.
