There seems to be some rumors swirling around that the Denver Broncos could potentially trade Courtland Sutton, and the Patriots should have interest.

Apparently, the Broncos have had some trade calls surrounding their two top receivers in Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton.

ESPN’s Dianna Russini indicates that the Broncos are not shopping them but that GMs generally do pick up the phone in most cases.  Sutton also sent out a cryptic tweet that can be seen above saying “I just want to be where I’m wanted and appreciated.

With the rumors that Denver could trade Sutton, the Patriots should see how much the former Pro Bowler would cost.  He made that Pro Bowl in 2019 because of a strong 1,112 yard campaign.

He also seemed to side into more of a WR2 role in Denver this year as Jerry Jeudy emerged towards the end of the season.

To me, while the Broncos may not actually be shopping either, I bet one of them could be had for the right price.

Being that the Patriots do not have a strong history in drafting wide receivers, they could flip their second or third round pick for someone like Sutton.

In fact, Jerry Jeudy would likely cost more, so if they don’t want to put too big of a dent in their draft pick stock, trading for the 6’4″ Sutton could be the way to go.

Denver also is hurting for draft capital so they might entertain the offer if it’s strong enough.

A situation where the Patriots could re-sign Jakobi Meyers, trade for Courtland Sutton and draft someone in the first round could have a nice impact on the offfense.

Sutton is not a high-end WR1, but he’s a top 15-20 receiver in the NFL and the Pats certainly don’t have that type of player on the roster.

Sutton could be yet another target for the team as they look to fix their offense in 2023 and beyond.
