According to Adam Schefter, two major Buffalo Bills’ free agents likely won’t return, and the Patriots could easily sign one of them.

New England needs to be aggressive in free agency.  No matter what side of the ball a player is on, if they can bring value to the Patriots in an efficient way, the team should have strong interest.

According to Adam Schefter, the Bills’ are poised to lose both Jordan Poyer and Tremaine Edmunds in free agency this season.  They are tight against the cap and seem to have already accepted their fate with a couple of key players that have been on their defense for years.

If I’m Bill Belichick, I am sprinting towards inking Tremaine Edmunds to a contract.  Edmunds was a former first round draft pick back in the 2018 NFL Draft.  Edmunds was just 20 years old as a rookie and will be just 25 during his sixth season in the NFL.

He’s a two-time Pro Bowler who has five interceptions, 35 passes defended, two forced fumbles, 6.5 sacks, and 565 total tackles over his career thus far.

He also did take a step forward in coverage this year and is one of the very best in the NFL.  There really isn’t much he can’t do.  He’s 6’5″, 250lbs and has 4.5 speed.

Do I think the Pats need to invest around $20 million per season in an inside linebacker?  No, not really, but he’s coming from a rival team and is an exceptional player at his position.  He could be the true enforcer in the middle of the defense and would fit right in Belichick’s scheme.

Playing next to Matthew Judon, Josh Uche, Christian Barmore, and Davon Godchaux would make such a stellar defensive front that would give total hell to opposing offensive lines.

If the Patriots can pull it off, then why not, right?
