On Tuesday morning, reports surfaced about the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets being in talks surrounding a potential Aaron Rodgers’ trade.  Well, this would certainly complicate things for the AFC East.

The two teams apparently had some conversation recently, and with Aaron Rodgers, the four time NFL MVP, being done with his darkness retreat, and with free agency starting next week, a decision from Rodgers’ future in the NFL would have to come very soon.

If this is the case, and Rodgers does indeed want to play for the Jets, the two sides would hammer out a deal.  We’ve seen the the amount of drama that has come from Green Bay the last few offseasons, and the Packers seem ready to move on.

The trade compensation and the trade itself would likely be without much drama, and Rodgers would get to reunite with his former offensive coordinator, who is now the OC in New York, Nathaniel Hackett.

Aaron Rodgers has spoken highly of Hackett, and it would make sense that the Jets hired him to be the OC.

I do think they brought him in as a ploy to get Rodgers to land as a Jet.

Well, if this were to happen, what would that mean for the Patriots?  Well, it would suck, to put it bluntly.  That would easily make the Patriots the fourth best team in the division and they would have quite the path to battle through.

This would likely force New England to be active in free agency yet again to try and put together the best team possible.  For context, the Pats beat the Jets both times during the 2022 season, but if Rodgers were to land in NY, I’m not sure they get within 10 points of the Jets.

We’ll see how this finishes out, but the Packers seem poised to want to move on and Rodgers might be leaning towards that too.
