A major report from Albert Breer could indicate that the New England Patriots might not be sold on Mac Jones and could sniff around the QB market.

Albert Breer joined 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Zolak and Bertrand” last week and talked about how the way the 2022 season in relation to Mac Jones in the offense.

"“I don’t think Bill appreciated the way that Mac handled some of the stuff last year,” Breer said. “There’s a way that I think Bill thinks a franchise quarterback should conduct himself. And for the most part, (Tom) Brady did conduct himself that way. I think there were certain things in the way that Mac handled his second year as a pro that Bill didn’t appreciate."

Breer also noted that Mac Jones wearing his emotions on his sleeve did not entirely sit well with Bill Belichick.  All in all, the 2022 season was a disaster, especially on the offensive side of the ball, and given Mac Jones obvious limitations combined with the reporting from Breer, it makes me think that the team will heavily sniff around the QB market this offseason.

There does not appear to be any connections to the Patriots and Derek Carr, who looks poised to sign with a team soon.

Two other big names are Jimmy Garoppolo, a former Patriot and free agent, and Lamar Jackson, who could be dealt if him and the Ravens cannot agree on a deal.

Mac Jones’ time in New England might be coming to and end, an I think since Bill Belichick is likely not coaching with the team much longer, we’ll see him make some major moves to try and right the ship and win a Super Bowl.

Choosing between Mac Jones and Jimmy Garoppolo might be choosing between hotdogs and hamburgers, but a potential Lamar Jackson trade would present a significant upgrade at the position for the team.

Nothing may end up happening with the Patriots’ QB spot this offseason, as they aren’t the only teams looking for an upgrade, but this bombshell reporting from Albert Breer does make you wonder.
