On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 57, but the Patriots have a way to dethrone the champions.  Their second Super Bowl in fourth years, the Chiefs look unstoppable.

In a year of transition for the team, welcoming in a plethora of new pass catchers and defensive players, the greatness of Andy Reid and MVP play of Patrick Mahomes proved to be inevitable.  Going forward, teams will look to do whatever is necessary to take down the Chiefs.

They are now approaching the dynasty status, and the New England Patriots should have none of that.

What moves can the team make to dethrone the Chiefs before it gets out of hand?

Moves the Patriots can make to dethrone the Chiefs

Trade for or acquire a dynamic quarterback

Whether the Patriots can somehow acquire Aaron Rodgers or Lamar Jackson this offseason, it’s clear that the team needs a difference maker at the quarterback position.  Just look at the teams that have beaten the Chiefs before and what they had in common.

Bengals have Joe Burrow

Bills have Josh Allen

Buccaneers had Tom Brady

You see, if you play on taking down Mahomes, you need someone who can at least come somewhat close to his playmaking ways.  All of Burrow, Allen, and Brady in their unique ways have been able to do that, so the Patriots need to act accordingly.

Continue to keep the elite defense in tact

New England has a very good defense that got to the quarterback and took the ball away in 2022.  To have any chance at dethroning the Chiefs, the team needs to not only keep the unit together, but they also need to continue to add to it.

Adding at each position group, even if it isn’t a huge need, would be the smart route.  There really is no such thing as too many playmakers, and in order to beat the champs, you need those playmakers to show up.

Win up front

The Chiefs’ offensive line did not allow a single sack going up against one of the best pass rushes the NFL has ever seen.  This is how to win games in the NFL, and it’s how teams always have won games.  In order for the Patriots to be able to dethrone the Chiefs, they need to win the battle up front.

This means ensuring the offensive line is as stout as possible while also ensuring the defensive line is stocked with talent.  If you lose the line of scrimmage against the Chiefs, kiss winning goodbye.
