Could the New England Patriots pull off an insane trade in 2023?

The New England Patriots have some work to do on offense this offseason. Could they pull of an insane trade to fix their woes?  I think now that Bill O’Brien is on the team as the OC, that could give the Patriots some direction with who they could potentially target.

There will be some free agents that played with Bill O’Brien when he was head coach of the Houston Texans.  There also may be some players currently on the Texans’ roster than could be traded.  This is where I think New England could make some major noise, as I have two players in mind that could serve as huge solutions for the offense.

I do think O’Brien will be a huge help, as I don’t think anything has a bigger impact than good coaching, but even the best coaches need great players, and New England does not have a ton of great players on their offense.

So, which two players do I think the Patriots could potentially target in one large mega-trade to help fix their offense?

Brandin Cooks and Laremy Tunsil.

We’ve written about Brandin Cooks on this site before as someone that the team could target to improve their WR room, which could use a boost from someone like Cooks who is a very quality veteran receiver.

They also need some help at left tackle, as Trent Brown was not too good at LT this season.  I think the best solution is to kick Trent Brown back to his old home at RT and to try and fill the LT void this offseason.

Well, why not kill two birds with one stone?

Could the Pats package their 2023 first round pick and perhaps someone like Kyle Dugger as framework for a deal to land Cooks and Tunsil from the Texans?  It’s clear that Houston is in a full rebuild, and I’m not sure either player has much interest in remaining with the team during this process.

So, why not see if they are available?  And if both are, then why not pull the trigger?
