Bill Belichick and Tom Brady prove there’s no bad blood
Throughout the 20 years Bill Belichick and Tom Brady spent together in New England, the media tried to convince us that the two despised each other. That narrative has been exasperated since Brady left the Patriots in 2020 and has continued over the past week since the quarterback’s retirement announcement.
Of course, when a player and coach are paired together for as long as they were and accomplish an unsurmountable amount of success that will never be replicated, it’s easy to try and create drama that isn’t there.
We do live in a world that’s all about clicks and likes, right?
But despite their best efforts during the years to prove the portrayal of their relationship wrong, the assumptions have only gotten worse.
Brady’s feelings towards Belichick came into question again when the idea of him retiring a Patriot began to float around the internet. Many in the media asserted that Brady would never return to Foxboro because of the unsettled feelings between him and his former coach, stemming from alleged incidents starting in 2017.
Because both are known for keeping their feelings close to the vest, they haven’t disputed all that has been said until now.
On the latest episode of his “Let’s Go!” podcast, the first since he announced his retirement, Brady had several guests on the show, including Belichick.
The two were not at a loss for words when discussing how they felt about each other from their first meeting to the present day. At one point, Brady noticeably got choked up when asked what Belichick did to bring the best out in him.
A lot was said during the segment, and we finally heard a bit about how the two dealt with all the negativity spread about them during their years together, including their alleged bad blood.
Unfortunately, no matter what they say or how many times they say it, the truth of Belichick and Brady’s relationship will never satisfy those that want to believe they hate each other. But those who have watched the two grow and win together since 2000 recognize and acknowledge their mutual respect for each other, not just from the words said but also from watching them together.
As for Brady signing a one-day contract to retire a Patriot? That wasn’t addressed in the episode. However, hopefully we will get an answer to that sooner rather than later, especially since Robert Kraft has made his feelings known about the matter.
