Bucs players the Patriots should inquire about

Devin White

AGE: 24
CONTRACT: Final year of rookie contract in 2023
2022 STATS: 17 games – 124 combined tackles, 5.5 sacks, 8 TFL, 16 QB hits, 5 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries returned for 26 yards
CAP SPACE IMPLICATIONS FOR 2023: Base salary – $11,706,000 | Cap hit – $11,706,000

The defense isn’t a big concern for the Patriots, nor is it likely to be a priority in free agency. But because signing a good pass rusher is always a good signing, Devin White may be worth inquiring about.

If the Bucs are ready to enter complete rebuild mode, trading White clears a good amount of cap space while leaving the team with no dead cap. This would be enticing for both Tampa and New England. With how much help the Bucs’ offense needs, they could use the money to improve their offensive line.

Adding White’s Pro Bowl abilities would boost the inside linebacker position, playing alongside Ja’Whaun Bentley and Jahlani Tavai. His presence would instantly make the Patriots’ defense even more dominant.

He’s young, talented, and would be a surefire playmaker for a team that has run through its defense the last few years. If the asking price is reasonable, Belichick should strongly consider making the trade.
