The New England Patriots have some holes that they can fill in free agency. Who from playoff bound teams could they target?  The team should have around $50 million in cap space for the 2023 free agency period.

I do think they’ll be active once again like they were after the 2020 season.  It did yield some nice results as the team went 10-7 the following year and made the postseason.  Now, after a disappointing season, the Pats should make another dip into the free agency pool to try and get their team back to where they were during the 2021 season.

Of the 14 playoff teams in the NFL currently, who are some free agents from these clubs that could help New England in 2023 and beyond?

Mike McGlinchey, RT, San Francisco 49ers

Mike McGlinchey was the 9th overall pick back in the 2018 NFL Draft and has been the 49ers’ starting right tackle since then.  He’s not elite, but he’s good at what he does and would bring some much needed stability at this position, which was inconsistent all year.

He has missed 13 games in his career, which is a tiny bit troubling, but he’s played in 17 games this season and may be able to test the market since the 49ers don’t have a ton of cap space on their hands.

I’d think that they’d want McGlinchey back since their offensive line is so crucial to what they do, but this will be his big payday, and if the Patriots can pony up what he’d want, then they should pursue him.

McGlinchey is 6’8″, so he’s got the length, and assuming that Trent Brown returns as the left tackle, the Patriots would have two 6’8″ monsters at their tackle spots.
