Patriots who played their last game for the team in ’22
The New England Patriots have a good chunk of free agents to potentially re-sign in the offseason, but a few have played their last game for the team. Even though the team has about $50 million in cap space for the coming offseason, that does not mean they should go crazy and re-sign all of their free agents and also go heavy into the free agent pool.
The Patriots have a few needs that they must take care of in the offseason. Perhaps the biggest one is finding a true difference maker at wide receiver. They also may want to look at players along the offensive line.
There are a few free agents for the Patriots, though, that have easily played their last game for the team. Under no circumstances should these players be re-signed. For the most part, this is due to poor play on the field. Sometimes age can be a factor as well, or perhaps the player wants to get paid more than their current team is willing to offer.

Nelson Agholor, WR
Nelson Agholor signed a contract with the team worth $11 million per season after the 2020 campaign. In 2020, he had a break out season with the Las Vegas Raiders, which prompted New England to sign him to this deal.
However, over his two years as a Patriot, he has not held up his end of the bargain and will most definitely not be brought back in 2023.
He combined for 835 yards in two years here, but had 896 yards receiving in his 2020 stint with the Raiders. This contract was a miss all around unfortunately, and with the Pats trading for DeVante Parker before this season and also still having Kendrick Bourne and Tyquan Thornton under contract, it makes sense to let Agholor play elsewhere in 2023.
