Top 4 Player Prop Bets for Week 16: #2

Bengals RB Joe Mixon under 64.5 rushing yards (-135) – DraftKings Sportsbook

Joe Mixon is a good back in a great offense, but his numbers have dipped from last year’s Super Bowl run. In 12 games this season, Mixon has 722 yards and six rushing touchdowns, averaging 60.2 yards per game. This number is buoyed by his lone 100-yard game of the season, a Week 9 breakout against the Panthers that saw him rush for 153 yards and add another 58 through the air, with five total touchdowns.

In his two games back from injury, he has 25 carries for 117 yards. Samaje Perine was solid in Mixon’s absence and has carved out a role for himself as a complementary back, seeing 11 carries in the last two weeks. Given the Bengals passing game is on a heater in recent weeks, I don’t believe Mixon will get enough volume to be wildly productive in this matchup.

The Patriots defense has allowed just four running backs to rush for more than 64.5 yards all season. Two of them came in Week 4 when Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon both went off for the Green Bay Packers. Since then, only James Conner and Josh Jacobs have beat that number, in the Patriots’ last two games. I expect this is the game the run defense turns it back around and gets back to what we’ve seen for most of the season.

With Jalen Mills ruled out for the Patriots again, the Cincinnati Bengals will likely seek to throw the ball early and often and put the Patriots secondary on its heels. I look for Joe Mixon to get somewhere between 10 and 15 carries for 45 or 55 yards.
