The New England Patriots faceoff against the Indianapolis Colts at home in week nine of the 2022 NFL season. How do the betting markets feel about the game?  The 2022 NFL season is about half over already, and the Patriots find themselves in a solid position.

The AFC does not appear to be as dominant as many expected going into the season.  To me, there are quite a few good teams, but perhaps only one great team in the conference.  The Patriots and Colts face each other on Sunday, and some would argue that these two teams are average or below average.

The Patriots seem to be trending towards sticking with Mac Jones at quarterback, and the Colts have already benched veteran Matt Ryan for Sam Ehlinger.  What does Las Vegas think about the Patriots’ chances on Sunday?

According to FanDuel, the Patriots are favored by 4.5 points at -115 odds.  Betting $10 on them to cover the spread would win you $8.70, so those are some nice odds I’d be willing to take.  Their odds on the moneyline are -235, so $10 wins you $4.26.

The over/under point total is 40.5.  This does have the makeup of being a low-scoring affair.  Both teams have shaky quarterback play and defenses.  The Colts are the underdogs across the board here, so in order to maximize your winnings, you want to put money on Indy to cover the spread or win the moneyline odds.

I’d personally feel comfortable betting on New England to win outright on my weekly parlays.

Let’s make some predictions

This game feels like a close but comfortable win for New England.  I think they’ll have a clear advantage in the stat sheet but Indy’s coaching, which is largely good, will keep the game close.  Sam Ehlinger wasn’t great last week, but he was solid.

Mac Jones is facing a stingy defense, so I’d expect them to rely on the run game and Rhamondre Stevenson more.

Prediction: Patriots 20, Colts 13
