The New England Patriots play at home in week nine against the Indianapolis Colts. Once again, they have a great chance ahead of them.  Their stinker two weeks ago against the Bears is a game that they’d like to have back, but they rebounded nicely against the Jets last week.

Now they are facing the vulnerable Indianapolis Colts, who have had a mostly bad season and have already benched Matt Ryan for Sam Ehlinger.  The second year QB was not able to guide his team to victory against the Washington Commanders.

And now, he gets to go into Gillette Stadium to try and knock of the Bill Belichick-led Patriots.  Yeah, the chances aren’t likely.  New England is right on the cusp of a playoff spot and have one more game before their bye week.

Getting a win here in week nine not only could put them within the top seven playoff seeds, but gives them a 5-4 record and a much needed break.  I don’t think anyone is expecting the Patriots to make a playoff run, and I’d even go as far as to say that deep down, some within the organization know that the team is not equipped for that, but making the playoffs is something that I don’t think many across the NFL thought would happen.

They have a long way to go, but Sunday is a great chance for them to get their season above .500.  New England will be starting Mac Jones it seems, and their defense will hopefully feast on what has been a very bad Colts’ offense for 2022.

Matt Judon should be able to notch another sack, and the defensive line should have the push to slide the pocket back.  Michael Pittman and Alec Pierce are two playmakers for the Colts, and they are both big bodied targets.  New England needs to ensure that neither of them can break out for a big day, because their skillsets allow them to do that.

I do think New England comes away with a comfortable win.
