The New England Patriots face off against the Chicago Bears in week seven on Monday Night Football. What do Vegas odds say about the game?  The Patriots have a golden opportunity in front of them to get themselves into a solid position in the AFC.

The 3-3 Patriots are coming off of a two game winning streak where the offense has come alive with Bailey Zappe and the defense has held opponents to just 15 points combined.  They have been the best team in the NFL over the last two weeks, and whatever they’re doing, they should stick with until the train falls off the tracks.

The team gets to face what should be another easy opponent in the Chicago Bears.  The Bears, who are 2-4 somehow, are led by first year head coach Matt Eberflus and second year quarterback Justin Fields, who looks a bit off.

The Bears have been able to scratch and claw their way to a semi-respectable 2-4 record given their situation, but the team is not nearly that good, in my opinion.  Justin Fields has been one of, if not the worst quarterback in football this year, and to give them credit where it’s due, the defense has been good and the rushing attack is excellent.

However, in the position that matters most, they are subpar, so Bill Belichick will know how to get his Patriots’ team ready for battle.

What does Vegas think about the Patriots on Monday?

Currently, according to FanDuel, the Patriots are favored by 7.5 points on Monday, which is a huge number.  This means that they need to win by at least eight points to cover the spread.  Betting the Patriots to cover this number would win you $8.77 on a $10 bet, so the winnings are nice.

If you’d just prefer to bet the moneyline on the team, you’d win $2.67 on the same bet, so much, much better odds.  Vegas doesn’t have too much faith in the teams being able to score points, as the point total is set at 39.5, one of the lowest of the coming weekend.

Personally, I am taking the Patriots to cover 7.5 points at home in my parlay for week seven.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.

How will this game go?

To me, I don’t think this will end up being a close game.  It’s easy to see what the Bears have done on offense and what they will continue to do as long as they have Justin Fields taking snaps.  They are going to run the ball and try to play some stellar defense.

I personally do not see how the Patriots’ pass rush doesn’t get home a ton.  I also like Zappe to have another solid game through the air and expect this to be a low scoring, physical affair.

Prediction: Patriots 20, Bears 10
