Five bold predictions as the Patriots get ready to host the Lions
By Fran Brown
Rough, rough week for our bold predictions in Green Bay. Hunter Henry continues to be irrelevant in the Patriots passing game, Jakobi Meyers was ruled out on Saturday and Matt Patricia stopped giving Rhamondre Stevenson the ball even though he was running hard. But hey, the Patriots finally picked off Aaron Rodgers and Jack Jones returned it for a touchdown to boot.
As the Patriots host the Detroit Lions Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium, some questions remain unanswered. Will Mac Jones suit up? Are D’Andre Swift and Amon-Ra St. Brown going to play for the Lions? While we may not know the answers until game time, here are my five bold predictions for what might happen during the game on Sunday afternoon.
Five bold predictions for the Patriots in week five
Matthew Judon records a sack in fifth straight game
Judon has started the 2022 season off fast with a sack in each of the first four games. With a sack on Sunday, he would become the first Patriots player to begin a season with a sack in each of the first five games. Hall of Famer Andre Tippett is the only other Patriot to do it in the first four games, achieving that feat in 1986.
Lions quarterback Jared Goff has only been sacked five times all season, but I think Judon can get to him at least once. In three career games against Bill Belichick and the Patriots (all of which came as a member of the Rams), Goff was sacked nine times.
