New England Patriots’ Isaiah Wynn could be gone soon?

After a brutal week four performance against the Green Bay Packers, could Patriots’ right tackle Isaiah Wynn be on his way out?  Perhaps his worst game as a pro was put on display on Sunday when the Patriots took on the Packers.

The end result of the game wasn’t as bad as I think some of us thought it would be, especially considering that the Patriots were down to their third string quarterback in Bailey Zappe.  Besides the massive uncertainty with that position for a bit, there is some more certainty with the case of Isaiah Wynn, in my opinion.

The talented offensive linemen was beat like a drum on Sunday, and he hasn’t been all that good during the first quarter of the season.  Perhaps the writing was on the wall when the team decided to move Wynn to right tackle and Trent Brown to left tackle.  Brown looks just fine at that position, and the rest of the offensive line did a very good job yesterday.

Marcus Cannon ended up coming in the game and playing fine.  Being that Cannon is a savvy veteran and has held this position down for a bit in New England, it’s hard to see how he won’t continue to do this with Wynn’s recent performance.

Couple that with rumors that the Patriots were shopping Isaiah Wynn before the season, and it’s easy to see why he could be on his way out.  He’s playing on his fifth year option which is worth about $10 million, so he isn’t cheap.

However, I do think the Patriots could get some interest from other teams who desperately need the help at this position.  The first team that comes to mind is the Chicago Bears.  If they are truly wanting to help Justin Fields, they could all about Wynn, who perhaps could swing inside and replace somebody.

The Houston Texans might have interest as a rebuilding team, and other teams like the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, and even Dallas Cowboys could perhaps inquire about his services.  I think it’s an objective fact that Isaiah Wynn is a talented player.  His situation could be a mental thing, which I think is not talked about enough, rather than a talent issue.
