New England Patriots begin to make moves to their top 53
The Patriots have begun their process of trimming their roster down to the 53 man limit. This article will be a rolling update of the cuts made. Perhaps one of the most unfortunate times in the NFL is when teams have to trim down their roster.
Dreams of playing in the NFL are ended, and those who are cut may never see the field again. There’s always going to be the feel-good stories of the undrafted player or late round pick who makes noise and cracks the roster, but many of the cuts that teams make are their late round picks, free agents who have bounced around the NFL, or undrafted players.
So, here is the list of players that have been cut for the New England Patriots so far:
- TE Dalton Keene – A former third round pick who clearly did not pan out for the team
- CB Malcolm Butler – The Super Bowl 49 hero who was set to miss the 2022 season with an injury
- DB Jalen Elliott – Undrafted in 2020, Elliot spent time with the Lions in 2020 and 2021
- DB Devin Hafford – Undrafted in 2022, Hafford spent some time in the USFL
- P Jake Julien – Played his college football at Eastern Michigan
This article will be updated as cuts continue to roll in from the New England Patriots.
The second wave of cuts has happened for the New England Patriots, and the list is growing. Players cut since original publication include Devin Asiasi, Terrance Mitchell, Harvey Langi, Drew Desjarlais, Kevin Harris, Josh Hammond, Tre Mixon, Nate Weiland, Henry Anderson, Justin Bethel, JJ Taylor, Arlington Hambright, Will Sherman, Cam McGrone, Lil’Jordan Humphrey, Jeremiah Pharms.
