Julian Edelman made the rounds on Tuesday promoting his new podcast. He discussed missing football more this year. Could he return to the Patriots?

Since retiring after the 2020 season, Julian Edelman has dabbled in a handful of different ventures. He can currently be seen on Paramount+’s Inside the NFL as a regular host. And he is also now working with Coast Productions in helping to develop new media projects.

On Tuesday he announced his new podcast, Games with Names, with co-host and comedian, Sam Morril. The new show will discuss some of the biggest games in all of sports history, with guests on every week to relive and retell the stories.

The promotional video with the announcement showed several clips from memorable games throughout the years including the Michael Jordan flu game, the “Edelman catch” from Super Bowl LI, the Paul Pierce wheelchair game, and Morril’s favorite highlight, the helmet catch.

The dynamic between the two hosts should be fascinating; Morril, a native New Yorker, and Edelman, an honorary Bostonian from playing football in New England for 12 years.

Edelman would later promote the new series on the Rich Eisen Show, detailing the podcast while also discussing how he’s feeling as he enters year two of retirement.

When asked if he misses football, Edelman replied saying he “misses it more this year” than he did last year. He describes that in 2021, he felt beat up and his body was ready for a break. Now that he’s had an entire year off from football, he’s feeling much better physically, leading to his desire to get back on the field.

Eisen would, of course, lean into asking if he would potentially come out of retirement, particularly if the Patriots or Bucs reached out to him.

“You know, I’ll tell you right now. If I had three weeks, three maybe four weeks, I mean for the start of the season, absolutely not. But if there’s a team vying for a playoff run, guy goes down, could I get ready? I mean I probably could.” Edelman said.

When asked if he would want to return if the call was made, “I mean that depends on the situation at that time. Right now I’m looking forward to Games With Names; we’re about to launch this unbelievable podcast. I’ve got Inside the NFL streaming on Paramount+ of course.”  he said.

Rich would follow it up by saying, “And obviously those things you could do it at the same time and they could be waiting for you too at the very end of the day.” to which Edelman replied,  “You can never say never. But I’m excited for the opportunities I have coming on my plate right now. You know, if any of those situations come up, then, of course, you have to look at them.”
